G,Day ekkiemum, we have 2 pair of the red sided type. & 1 pair of solomons. Your not wrong about food for eckies walnuts are $20 a kilo up here in QLD not counting all the fruit and veges etc but well worth every cent we love them. I have noticed that thingys are selling for more than hens, you would think in the pet bird market that hens would be more popular than thingys being there brighter colour & all.I was talking to a man the other day from Melbourne who has 26 pair and he said he sells bugger all to people as breeders mostly all go as pets. how old are your eckies? regards Jim.

i only have one girl that im weaning atm, she is 9 weeks old but i have been researching ekkies for over 8 months and talking to my breeders etc... i want to get more in the future maybe some mature parent raised hen and male to breed next year or 2 wheni get rich (hehe)
in the bird market people have diffrent views to the cost of the ekkie males and females... for exsample some sell males for a 100 extra due to they are better campions and talkers (i dont belive this myth by the way) and some breeders sell hens for an etra 100 due to they have the bright colours and they are the main part for breeding. i got my ekkie for 650 which is a steal really.
i havent found any vos ekkies in aust yet, i have a solomon island girl. i would love to breedthe vos and SI speices.....

Hi All- Am about to be a new mum to a female Ecky - sorting it all out at the moment, and doing a heap of research on what they need and like! Can't wait to get her home, and I'm sure she'll keep me busy!
