well not having my birds long 6 days now. I feed mine from instructions from the breeder :ie sweet potatoe, carrot, banana, soaked parrot seed, pine nuts, beans, snowpeas, cellery, apple, orange, pear all cut into managable pieces & fresh gum cuttings .This is fed in the early morning and my wife takes out any left overs by 10.00 leaving only the seed for the day. This may sound a lot but the vege's are only small amounts but all is devoured. But I suppose it's like all bird keeping everybody has a diet that works for them.
Regards

I usually feed my boy with a mix of budgie and peachface seed as well as pellets thrown in. Just for a treat I throw a few dog biscuits in for him to discover He loves it. Daily he also gets a selection of fruit and veggies, including bok choi, carrots, brocolli, apples, beans, snowpeas, banana, grapes and basically anything else I have in the house apart from avocado. For a treat he also loves toast with honey or jam spread on it. He seems to be partial to all things crunchy, rather than soft. I give Jerry one too many treats I think, but he loves it!!

I feed Eddis brown rice-egg & shell (no yolk)-sweet mashed potato. On a sqewer: coconut-pumpkin-pineapple-nectarine-grape. The sqewer foods alternate daily, depending on what he hasn't had & what I've got. In his bowl: bean sprouts-snow pea shoots-carrot-capsicum (all colours)-cauliflower-broccoli-snowpeas-baby spinich-peas-pears-kiwi-cucmuber. And he gets seed. Then............if he's still hungry after all that he get some formula with baby apple or banana & peanut butter mixed in. He's only about 16 weeks old & he's slowly weaning himself off his formula.

Gyps loves peas - frozen are good, but fresh snow peas are the *best*! She also gets peanuts in their shells (fun to crunch!) and almonds (I shell these), parrot pellots (the multi-coloured fruit loop looking ones), soak seed, mung beans, corn on the cob, and a selection of several of the following - passionfruit, apple, banana, broccoli, beans, baby spinich, bok choi, grapes (all colours) and whatever else looks interesting from the fridge! For protein, she's had a peck at chicken bones, and I'll try the dog bickies too (this was recommended by the breeder). Will try the toast - she loves crunchy stuff.
She's completely weaned, but happy to have a nibble at most things - including hair (loves my partner's beard!) and fingers, if she can get away with it!

My baby is 5 months old today and I feed her brown rice with lentils cooked navy beans and a selection of veggies some fresh some frozen. I usually make enough for the week. She also gets Dr. Harveys parrot food. Its very nice she really loves it and in the day time I leave her pellets which she pretty much does not like or eat much of.

My 9month old Jade gets apple, grapes, mango, tangerines, litchi nuts (just the fruit), goyave, banana, broccoli, string beans, zucchini, sweet potatoes, carrots, cucumber, celery, red beet (cooked), rice, wheat, lentils etc...he also gets sprouted seeds and a home made seed mixture. I don't give him any nuts and only very few sunflower seeds as they're not supposed to be good for ekkies. Chris22 I don't think dog biscuits are very good for eclectus parrots, though I'm not really sure. Same goes for honey and jam...too much sugar. But I guess that's none of my business. Don't mean to interfere.

Rosie gets cooked kidney beans and chick peas and a good variety of fruit and vegetables. Like us she seems to like a bit of variety. We also put a small amount of seed and eclectus pellets in her outside day cage (she has an inside cage as well). He favorite treats are fresh pumpkin and cantaloupe seeds as well as apple cores.

Sounds like everyone is doing well with feeding great foods to their "kids". However one note of caution, please be very careful with peanuts, while the nut itself is fine, the shell is actually the problem, it is grown under ground and can contain mycotoxins which can cause digestive and respiratory problems. A $500 dollar vet bill is nothing to cough at. I know i may sound like the doom and gloom of the forum but having had my ekkie for over 7 years, like children, things go wrong even tho you are doing your absolute best to keep them in great health.
